This is a port of the M.A.M.E. (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) for the Sony PlayStation.
It is based on MAME version 0.34 (from late 1998) which despite its age, emulates a lot of arcade games from the 70's and the 80's.
You wouldn't want to emulate newer games on the PlayStation, anyway!

It works pretty decently, though with many games, it does so pretty slowly. For example games based around Pacman and Pengo hardware run about 3.5 times slower than the real speed.

Despite its slowness, this port is a demonstration of the potential of the PS1 hardware.

Not all games supported by MAME 0.34 are supported by this port! Due to the nature of the PlayStation hardware, everything must be tested and only the pieces needed for the game you want to play must be compiled inside the executable.
Supported games are based around the Pac-Man, Pengo, Crazy Baloon, Rally-X and Galaxian hardware platforms.
This means that about 50 games are supported currently.

Some screens (PS1MAME running on the PCSX emulator):

Due to the nature of ROM images, you will have to compile PS1MAME yourself in order to use it and it is expected that you know how to do this - you have a PSXSDK toolchain installed, etc.

PS1Mame Release #1 (August 20th, 2013)

Future goals are adding support to more hardware platforms and writing CPU cores that are optimized specially for PS1.
